Getting New Window Wells

I have decided that it is about time we replaced our basement window wells. It is a job that we have been meaning to do ever since we moved in to our home and it is over ten years since we have stayed there now. We have done other work on the place and have always delayed doing this job. I guess it does not bother us that much but I have just seen how nice our neighbours new egress window wells look and it has convinced me that we should do them. It should really look good if it is as good as theirs. It means that when we have visitors they will see a much better looking house and I think that we will really notice the difference in the look of the house as well. We might even start to use the basement a bit more if it looks better, I might give it a coat of paint when it is done and that might really brighten it up a bit. I have a bit of old furniture down there but we never go down so I think that perhaps putting a few rugs, cushions and throw down there might make it a good den for the children as they are always saying they need some space of their own.

Sleeping Like Babies

I have no idea who thought up the phrase ’sleeping like a baby’ to mean sleeping very deeply. When my twins were newborns I don’t think they knew the meaning of the word sleep! In fact, I know that many people have trouble with getting their babies to sleep. I suppose it is natural that a newborn will need to keep waking up to get food their tummies are too small to hold much and they need a lot of energy for all the growing they are doing. They therefore tend to feed often and sleep between feeds. It is worth getting used to the idea that your baby is unlikely to be sleeping when you are sleeping. It is tempting to try to get them sleeping through the night as quickly as possible and some babies will do that from a few weeks old. However, most babies take longer than that and some never get to grips with sleeping even when they start school. Do not worry about your baby sleeping though. Some babies need lots of sleep and some need less and they should sleep as much as they need, if you do have any concerns then consult with your midwife or health visitor and they should be able to check it out for you.
